People wrote “Paan, Paani, Palgi” outside their shops and houses to welcome the Chief Minister.
People of Sarangarh wrote “Paan, Paani, Palgi” outside their shops and homes to accord a unique welcome to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
People here are overjoyed with the formation of the new Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district and decked up their establishments to welcome Baghel, who reached here today to inaugurate the newly formed district.
When asked, an elderly said that these lines depict the identity of Sarangarh. Earlier, people here were extremely fond of ‘paan’ and cultivation of betel leaf (paan) was done at many places here.
Apart from this, there used to be many ponds here, due to which the area never faced any shortage of water.
Lastly, the word ‘Palgi’ is used to describe saluting our elders as a token of respect in our Chhattisgarhi culture.
Thus ‘paan’, ‘pani’ and ‘palgi’ have become an important part of the identity of the people of Sarangarh and our lifestyle.
That is why we have written these lines to welcome our Chief Minister.
