Chhattisgarh continues to be the state with the lowest unemployment rate in the country with an unemployment rate of 0.1 per cent recorded in November.

In the last 4 years, the Chhattisgarh government has undertaken several meaningful initiatives and formulated new policies to generate new employment opportunities and balance the urban-rural economy.

Works being done under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel have resulted in making Chhattisgarh a leading state in terms of lowest unemployment rate.

Significantly, according to the data released by CMIE in May-August in the year 2018, the unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh stood at 3.22 per cent.

A significant decline has been recorded with the effective implementation of the welfare schemes of the state government.

Nearly 99.90 per cent people of Chhattisgarh state are earning livelihood by indulging in some or the other employment generating activities.

The unemployment rate in the state of Chhattisgarh in November is at its lowest level so far at 0.1 per cent.

Chhattisgarh tops other states of the country in terms of lowest unemployment rate.

According to the latest data released by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) on December 1, the unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh has been recorded at 0.1 per cent in the month of November, while the unemployment rate in the country in the month of November stood at 8.2 per cent.

The unemployment rate in the country’s urban areas was 9.0 per cent and in rural areas was 7.8 per cent in the month of November.

Meanwhile, after Chhattisgar, Uttarakhand has recorded the second lowest unemployment rate of 1.2 per cent in the same period followed by Odisha with an unemployment rate of 1.6 per cent.

Similarly, the unemployment rate of Madhya Pradesh stood at 6.2 per cent and that of Gujarat at 2.5 per cent. Haryana has recorded the highest unemployment rate of 30.6 per cent while the unemployment rate of Jammu and Kashmir stood at 23.9 per cent.

Why Chhattisgarh has lowest unemployment rate in India

Soon after coming to power 4 years ago, the Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, adopted its new model of development with a goal of holistic development of the state.

Innovations were made in the direction of strengthening the rural economy following Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of ‘Gram Swaraj’.

In this, the Narva-Garuva-Ghurva-Badi programme started under the Suraji Gaon Yojana played an important role, on the other hand, under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, Gauthans were developed as Rural Industrial Parks, which has helped to boost employment at local level.

The number of minor forest produce procured at support price has been increased from 7 to 65. Besides, arrangements for its processing and value addition have also been done to provide employment to people in forest areas.

Similarly, C-marts have been started for sale of products manufactured by women self-help groups.

Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana has brought economic prosperity to the farmers and drew their inclination towards agriculture.

Cultivated area and production increased in the state. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhoomiheen Krishi Mazdoor Yojana, the people associated with the Pauni-Pasari system got financial assistance.

A new industrial policy was implemented in the state, in which provisions for subsidy were made in many categories and in different sectors. Due to this, entrepreneurship development got a boost in the state.
